The NMC introduced the FMGE/ NEXT Exam for foreign medical graduates and it is a licensing test for students to practice in India. This exam is conducted for the applicants who have completed an MBBS degree from foreign medical universities.

The NMC is proposed to replace the FMGE exam & NEET PG with the National Exit Test (NEXT Exam) and it will count as the qualifying final exam for MBBS students. Applicants need to get a good NEXT Exam Score which is used for MD or MS Admission or other postgraduate medical courses. Basically, it is the most important examination for Indian applicants as well as foreign medical students.

The NEXT Exam Syllabus includes all the subjects that appear during the MBBS program. Basically, the NEXT Exam is conducted in two phases NEXT-1 and NEXT-2, the NEXT-1 is an online test and NEXT-2 is a practical exam. As per the proposal which was discussed by the National Medical Commission the complete NEXT examination syllabus is mentioned below.
The NEXT Exam Pattern for the examination is still in the proposal and NBE will declare the final pattern soon. It is suggested that the test is conducted in two phases NEXT-1 and NEXT-2. The NEXT-1 phase is totally MCQs based questions while the NEXT-2 covers the Oral and Practical based questions. Check below the proposed exam pattern for the examination. Conducted for final year aspirants.
It is an online-based MCQs examination.
Valid up to next 2-3 years.
The Next-1 score is used for PG Admission.
If you fail the Next -1, you are not eligible to participate in the internship program.
You can re-appear for the examination.
NEXT-2
Who qualifies the NEXT-1 can appear for NEXT-2.
It is a Practical exam to check the basic practical knowledge.
After passing the examination you will get the license to practice in India or you can apply for a postgraduate program in medicine.
