NEET UG Entrance Exam Eligibility, Syllabus 2023

The NEET UG Exam is given not just by people within the geographical boundaries of India, but also by NRIs and OCIs/PIOs. Every year, NEET even sees several international candidates as well.

The eligibility criteria for each category of candidates differ from the other, which warrants the need to specify each of them differently. Below, you shall find the eligibility details of all types of candidates listed separately.

  Candidates must’ve completed at least 17 years of age at the time of admission or before the 31st December of the year of admission. This is applicable for all categories irrespective of General or Reserved

  The maximum Age for giving the NEET UG Entrance Exam is 25 years for General candidates and 30 years for the Reserved candidates i.e. SC/ST/OBC-NCLand PwBD category.

  Currently, the candidates from the UT of J&K and Ladakh cannot appear under the 15% All India quota, for the MCC/DGHS counseling that’s for admission into the MBBS/BDS seats. However, they can do so for the counseling by the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBPEE)

  If eligible, J&K candidates can fill an “online Self Declaration Form”, which is generated and can be printed along with the Confirmation Page. They’ll be eligible for Private/Deemed Universities, Medical and/or Dental Colleges, along with AIIMS, JIPMER, and AFMC

  Minimum 50% marks in PCB subjects in 10+2 for General category students, 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates, and 45% for PwDs.

  Certificate of confirmation from the Indian Diplomatic Mission of their country of residence.

  Only those foreign applicants will be accepted who either have the above, or a valid passport of the country of origin.

  The eligibility of OCI and PIO Cardholders is determined by MHA notifications.

• Code 01

  To be chosen by candidates who have appeared for Class XII in 2022. However, candidates need documentary proof of the fact that they’ve passed the Class XII exam with the required percentage.

• Code 02

  To be chosen by ICSE candidates having English + PCMB (Bio/Biotech), with any elective of choice instead of Maths as well. This is also for students who’ve finished their 10+2 from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) or state open school. Private candidates from the state boards (having bio/biotech as an additional subject) as well as those taking a drop/gap can also opt for this code.

• Code 03

  To be chosen by candidates who have passed Intermediate/Pre-Exam degree in PCB subjects plus English as a compulsory subject. However, students choosing this code must also have appeared for practicals in these subjects.

• Code 04

  To be chosen by candidates who have completed pre-professional/pre-medical exams, having English + PCB (Bio/Biotech), and having given practical tests in all these subjects.

• Code 05

  To be chosen by candidates who have passed the Class 12 qualifying exam and a 1st-year university level exam (with practicals) in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology.

• Code 06

  To be chosen by candidates who passed Class 10+2 with English + PCB (Bio/Biotech) and B.Sc examination with not less than 2 subjects out of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology.

• Code 07

  To be chosen by candidates who have completed 2 years of theory and practicals in English + PCB (Bio/Biotech) and have passed any other examination that’s equivalent to a university-level intermediate science exam.Foreign candidates also have to choose this code, only if the equivalence of their qualifying exam is proved to be at par with India’s Class 12 boards.

  The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) is the one that determines this equivalence and even converts grades into marks (if the candidate’s score is in grades)
